In all of this work I know intimately that every school Counselor steps into their role with both strengths and deficits and yet many do their jobs in isolation. I offer support services for new counselors that include:

• Program vision and design — Establishing a clear mission, goals, roles, and priorities for the counseling program.

• Needs assessment — Identifying student needs, school priorities, gaps in services, and opportunities for improvement.

• Program structure and systems — Developing processes for academic advising, college and career planning, social-emotional support, student referrals, crisis response, and other counseling services.

• Annual planning — Creating calendars, timelines, programming plans, and systems that help counselors work proactively rather than reactively.

• Data-informed counseling — Identifying meaningful data and using it to evaluate student needs, set goals, and demonstrate program impact.

• Student support systems — Strengthening referral processes, collaboration with teachers and administrators, and systems for identifying and supporting students who need additional help.

• College and career programming — Developing comprehensive systems to support postsecondary planning, including college exploration, applications, financial aid, career exploration, and transition planning.

• Family and community engagement — Building effective communication and partnerships with families and community resources.

• Program evaluation and refinement — Reviewing what is working, identifying challenges, and creating practical strategies for continuous improvement.
