Services & Workshops

For more than 20 years, I worked as an international school counselor across four continents, supporting young people as they navigated some of life's most significant transitions. Throughout that work, one truth remained constant: the stories we tell about ourselves shape the way we understand who we are, where we belong, and what becomes possible. With a foundation in clinical mental health counseling, a background writing books for young adults, teaching in the Bard College Language & Thinking workshops at both Bard College of Simon’s Rock and Bard College Early High Schools, as well as leading high school counseling programs around the globe, I have developed a deep connection to the voices of students and the needs of school communities. With this foundation in mind, workshops encourage students to learn from one another while developing greater self-awareness and confidence.
My practice is grounded in narrative approaches, self-awareness, and written expression. I work with individuals to develop a stronger sense of identity, confidence, and purpose by exploring and articulating their own stories. Whether they are preparing university applications, navigating a move between countries, adjusting to a new school or culture, or simply seeking greater clarity about themselves, our work together helps them find language for their experiences and build the confidence to move forward.
Rather than focusing solely on outcomes, I help participants develop the internal resources to navigate change with resilience, authenticity, and self-understanding.
Practice Areas
One-on-one consulting offers personalized support tailored to each student's goals and stage of development. Together, we explore personal narrative, identity, strengths, and aspirations while addressing the practical challenges students may be facing.
Sessions may include:
-
University and college application essays rooted in authentic storytelling.
-
Identity exploration during periods of transition.
-
Building confidence through reflective writing and narrative practices.
-
Preparing for international moves, new schools, or post-secondary life.
-
Developing self-awareness, voice, and decision-making skills.
Each session is designed to help students better understand themselves while building the confidence and clarity needed for their next steps. Individual consulting for students is offered in 8-session blocks with the option to continue.
The small group setting creates opportunities for meaningful conversation, shared experience, and the realization that many transitions are both personal and universal. Small group workshops bring together individuals experiencing similar transitions or challenges. Through guided discussion, reflective writing, and collaborative activities, participants explore themes of identity, belonging, resilience, and personal narrative.
Topics can be tailored to the needs of the group and may include storytelling for university applications, navigating cultural transitions, finding personal voice, or preparing for life beyond secondary school. Small group workshops are offered in six-session bundles and will run with a minimum of four students.
School workshops are designed in partnership with schools to complement existing wellbeing and university counseling programs. Drawing on two decades of international school counseling experience, these sessions provide students, teachers, or community members with practical tools for understanding themselves while preparing for important academic and personal transitions.
Workshops may focus on:
-
Authentic storytelling for university applications.
-
Identity and belonging in international school communities.
-
Building resilience through narrative reflection.
-
Transitioning from secondary school to university.
-
Reflective writing as a tool for wellbeing and self-awareness.
Each workshop is interactive, developmentally appropriate, and adaptable to the unique culture and needs of the school community, equipping individuals with both practical skills and a deeper understanding of themselves. School-Based Workshops begin with a minimum of a one-day bundle that includes 8 hours of service that can be focused on students, advisors, parents or a combination of stakeholders.
